La primera instituci\u00f3n de educaci\u00f3n superior del mundo est\u00e1 en Fez, Marruecos, y es la llamada Universidad de Qarawiyyin, fundada por una mujer, Fatima al-Fihri, en el a\u00f1o 859.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e1 considerada la instituci\u00f3n m\u00e1s antigua todav\u00eda en funcionamiento y en este lugar estudi\u00f3 un pensador llamado Gilberto de Auvernia, que pasar\u00eda a la historia como el Papa Silvestre II.
